To celebrate the launch of Ella Mills newest launch, Deliciously Ella The Plant-based Cookbook,
‘100 simple vegan recipes to make every day delicious’, Ella is holding a number of signings, talks and demos. Last Thursday, my mum and I attended the lunch time signing at Whole Foods in Piccadilly Circus. Ella has been an inspiration to me for a number of years now, due to her continuous positivity and drive throughout everything she does.
This is Ella’s fourth cookbook in which she shares the most in-demand recipes from her thriving deli and reflects on her journey from food blogger to bestselling author and entrepreneur. The book includes over 100 new recipes including popular dishes.
We preordered the book with Whole Foods to ensure that we would be guaranteed to meet Ella. This also acted as our ticket price and included a Whole Foods goody bag of treats and a copy of the book which Ella personalised for me on the day.
I was surprised that the sighing was held outside the store entrance. We got there early so we were close to the front of the queue which was great. While waiting we watched the stand being set up and were also given some tasters of Ella’s products.
Wearing a long simple dress, oversized denim jacket and trainers, she looked casual yet beautiful. When it was my turn to get the book signed, I approached the stand and Ella was so welcoming. She personalised my book with my name and signed it for me. I said how much I loved her podcast in which the first episode had just been released and went to #1. We had a brief discussion about this and then had a photo together. Ella went on to say that one of her favourite recipes is the five bean chilli, so we must try this!
I was given my goodie bag after this and was surprised by the range of goodies provided:
Emily Veg Crips: Sweet Potato Sticks. I’ve tried these recently before and I really like them; they are crunchy, seasoned with sea salt and are delicious.
Deliciously Ella Cacao & Almond Energy Ball. This is my favourite flavour of her energy balls and is made with minimal ingredients which I love.
A selection of Pukka teas: three chamomile, turmeric gold and three cinnamon. I love matcha tea, however I’m yet to try any others, so now I have my chance with these.
Pulsin pea protein powder. I have only tried a vanilla protein powder before so I’m interested to see if I like this one more.
Coyo Vanilla Yogurt. This is a dairy free Coconut Milk Yoghurt and is very thick and creamy too. It also has a naturally sweet vanilla taste, with a hint of the coconut.
It was such a pleasure meeting this wonderful woman. She is a glowing individual who obviously knows how to dish up a deliciously bowl of great food! Ella inspires me to live my best life driven by goals and ambition. She is so authentic, down-to-earth and greatly respected by many, including myself. Through her Instagram and cook books, she really does make eating well easier and also is very successful at spreading the love of plants.
Ella is such an inspiring entrepreneur and other time she has taught me serval things:
• There are no sacrifices, but choices.
• Determination and belief are key.
• Motivation and passion are needed to succeed, but also to overcome difficult moments.
• Knowing and respecting yourself.
• Balance: knowing when to slow down and take a moment to breathe, and at the same time known when and where you can improve and do more.
“It’s the community that shapes and guides the way we think, what we work on and ultimately helps us define wider goals.”
I cannot wait to start trying some of the amazing recipes, especially the fudge brownies, peanut cookies and five bean chilli with corn fritters.
